Château Haut-Bergey
Paul Garcin dances to his own beat. After pursing a career as a rock musician, Paul came back to Château Haut-Bergey, where he and his wife Marilene, a nutritionist, are modernizing this 15th-century Château’s style of winemaking, as well as the place itself.

Our Experiences
Meet the Winemaker
Paul spent a good part of his youth on the estate, which his parents purchased in 1991. He converted the property to biodynamics in 2014 with a vision of creating more vibrant, lively and expressive wines.
In the Vineyard & Cellar
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot grow on 37 hectares, and white varieties Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc grow on smaller plots. Château Haut-Bergey is the first estate in Pessac-Léognan to be certified biodynamic. The family's philosophy emphasizes nurturing soil life, growing healthy grapes, and understanding how each plot responds to the natural influences at play. Rather than long barrel aging, they prefer "foudres" – conical wooden vats – stainless steel, or egg-shaped concrete vats to enhance the wine’s vitality and purity of primary aromas.
