Biodynamics
Family Business
The founding father of the house, Manuel De Sousa, immigrated from Portugal to Champagne to fight with the Allies during WWI, firmly planting his roots in the years after the Great War. Today, the De Sousas make champagnes that are a pure reflection of the next generation: expressive and full of energy.

Meet the Winemaker

Manuel’s son, Erick De Sousa, championed biodynamics in the region before many even knew what it meant. Erick is now passing on the torch to his three children: Charlotte, Julie and Valentin. They continue to respect the terroir and make truly remarkable examples of sustainably produced champagne.
In the Vineyard & Cellar

Julie works the family's 15 hectares of land with the help of her two horses: Vidocq and Capucine. In the vineyard, she’s able to better understand biodiversity and how it influences the health of the vines. In the cellar, Valentin experiments with containers, including wooden egg-shaped vats, stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, to obtain different profiles. Charlotte manages sales and exports, ensuring the fruits of their labor can be enjoyed throughout the world. Crystalline, precise and pure are just a few of the sparkling words that describe the De Sousa style.
