Megan was a plastics engineer in Virginia where the local vineyards hooked her into the world of wine. She left everything behind and moved to Burgundy, France in 2004 to live in the epicenter of wine. Megan believes that wine, like life itself, is a journey that’s meant to be savored and shared.
WSET Level 3
Meet Megan
Every bottle opened is a journey and a chance to discover the place, the people and the culture that gave birth to the wine inside.
What’s the bottle that got you into wine?
A Vintner’s Reserve 2001 from Veritas Vineyards in Afton, Virginia. This delicious blend of red Bordeaux varieties was made in an old-world style and it piqued my curiosity. I got a job in the Veritas tasting room, and the rest is history. Thank you, Andrew and Patricia.
What made you change your career to go into wine?
My fear of regret. I realized that by helping fill the world with plastic, I wasn’t doing the planet or myself any favors. After much soul searching, my heart told me to go to France and work in wine. I’ve never looked back and I don’t regret a minute.
